Garbage - The Revolution Starts at Home is a feature documentary about how the family household has become one of the most ferocious environmental predators of our time. Taking a good look into your trashcan may surprise you just as much as it does the people in this film; it's amazing what is in their garbage and just how much they produce is a shock!
The Central Vermont Solid Waste Management District has the good fortune to co-sponsor a daytime school showing plus a free, evening show for the general public on April 16th. This date intentionally precedes the April school vacation week, Earth Day and Green-Up Day. We hope the movie will inspire behavioral change and increased volunteer activities in the weeks that follow its viewing.
Thank you to Emily Kaminsky and members of the "Community for a Greater Barre" website who found this excellent documentary and asked who might be able to sponsor it; to the creative thinking and commitment of Dan Casey for bringing together different parts of the area community so that unique and important events can be presented at the Barre Opera House where he is Director; and, the generous agreement by the Agency of Natural Resources to allow the CVSWMD to use grant funds from our small school project (that would otherwise go unused) to sponsor a showing of the movie GARBAGE! to schools in our region, whereupon the Opera House agreed to "gift us" a second showing of the movie, free of charge, to the general public at 7 pm on the evening of April 16th. There will be refreshments at the evening show, environmental organization displays (including Green Cones) and environmentally friendly door prizes. Among the prizes being given away will be two Green Cones!
Don’t miss this sure-to-be great event!
Pass the word along - invite others! Let's fill the house and be the change we want to see!
